AUSTIN, Texas – New views of the proposed Major League Soccer stadium in Austin have been released.

The conceptual renderings, by Precourt Sports Ventures, shows an aerial view, gate view and interior perspective.

Austin is vying for the stadium, which would be located at 10414 McKalla Place, near The Domain. Before the plans become official, the Austin City Council will review a detailed report concerning the viability of the McKalla location on June 14.

“The soccer park at McKalla Place offers an incredible opportunity to create a world class match-day experience in the urban core of Austin. While influenced by great European venues, with intimate seating bowls that put fans right on top of the action, we are also drawing heavily on the incredibly diverse and vibrant local culture, to create a uniquely ‘Austin’ experience for MLS fans,” said principal and design director of the Gensler Sports Practive, Jonathan Emmett.

According to Emmett, the venue would mirror the local food, drinks and live music scene Austin is known for. The design also takes the city’s heat into consideration with open corners to allow breezy airflow throughout the stadium along with a roof canopy for shade.

Precourt Sports Ventures picked McKalla Place, which is a 23.5-acre property located near the Domain, in March. The group hopes to relocate the Columbus Crew SC, an MLS team, to Austin.

As Austin leaders debate the decision, the Columbus Crew must resolve a lawsuit brought by the State of Ohio. The Buckeye State said it's illegal for the team to leave without finding a local buyer first.
