SAN ANTONIO — A Tobin Hill intersection will soon be home to a public art installation celebrating its history in the LGBTQ community.

Last year, San Antonio City Councilman Roberto Trevino pushed for the city to install a rainbow crosswalk along all four intersections at North Main and Evergreen.

There was some initial pushback when the crosswalk was proposed, but Pride San Antonio raised money to help with the installation and upkeep of the project.

Funding for the crosswalks came from a combination of the city of San Antonio’s General Fund and private donations.

Much of the private funding came from a rainbow crosswalk Fiesta medal designed by Trevino.

The crosswalk is expected to be applied to the intersection in mid to late June, just before the city’s pride parade.
