SEGUIN, Texas —   Three teenage boys have been arrested and charged with making various threats against Seguin High School and the city's police department.

Two of the threats were made on the same day, Thursday, May 24, by two different boys. And the third, a week prior, on Thursday, May 18.

Police have not said if there is a link between the three incidents.

INCIDENT NO. 1

According to police, on Thursday, May 24, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Seguin Police Department Communication Center received a telephone call from a (young) male stating that “I’m going to blow up the police station.”

Minutes later, the same male called back and stated, “Do what I say, or you will be the first to die.”

Approximately 30 minutes after the first threat, the same caller called again and told the SPD dispatcher, “Are you ready to get blown up, bitch?”

After investigation, a 13-year-old juvenile was apprehended at his residence. He was taken into custody, magistrated by a judge and transported to a local juvenile detention facility.

On Wednesday evening, the suspect’s father was arrested on unrelated assault charges. The juvenile has been charged with “Terroristic Threat” under the Texas Penal Code, which is a Class B Misdemeanor.

INCIDENT NO. 2

Additionally, on Thursday, May 24, a 14-year-old male was also taken into custody for terroristic threats.” The juvenile male, while attending Seguin High School, told a group of students that “Maybe I’ll do a school shooting?”

This information was immediately relayed to the Seguin Police Department where an investigation was initiated, and officers were dispatched to the juvenile’s residence.

The Seguin Police Department interviewed the juvenile where he admitted to making the statements. Police said the boy further stated that he would only do it if someone made him “real mad.” The juvenile was magistrated by a judge, charged, and transported to a local juvenile detention facility.

INCIDENT NO. 3

On Friday, May 18, a 13-year-old male student was taken into custody for “terroristic threats” while attending the SISD Burges Alternative School. The student was reported making statements that included his desire to “do a school shooting” and “We’re going to take over this school.”

This incident was brought to the attention of a Seguin police officer working campus security. The officer initiated an immediate investigation and concluded that the student did make the statements. Even though the student followed up with a statement that he was “just joking,” he was taken into custody and transported to the local juvenile detention facility where he was charged with “terroristic threats.”

“Classes at the Seguin schools were not interrupted; however, they were on a heightened internal alert as most schools in our nation already are. These juveniles did not carry out their verbal threats, but there was an intent to scare people. That in and of itself is a crime,” Deputy Chief B. Ure said.

Ure further stated, “The Seguin Police Department joins law enforcement across the nation in taking these types of threats and comments very, very seriously and will continue to do so. We have zero-tolerance for this type of behavior and will hold anyone and everyone accountable. We continue to ask parents to truly parent because they can make a difference; and if you see something, say something.”

The names of the boys have not been released due to their ages.
