AUSTIN, Texas  -- Several emergency crews responded to reports of a water rescue at Lake Travis Saturday evening.

Austin-Travis County EMS reported that around 7 p.m. they received reports of a patient that fell off of a party barge.

Authorities said the boat was returning from Starnes Point to the marina from which it had originally departed. On its way back, a 26-year-old woman fell overboard from the upper deck of the boat.

Approximately 30 minutes later, ATC EMS reported that the swimmer was still missing and that efforts would be switching to that of a recovery.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, authorities said that the swimmer was still missing. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is investigating the boat accident and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the recovery operation.

Authorities said that it is unusual to conduct dive operations at night and will resume recovery operations Sunday morning.
