AUSTIN, Texas – It’s a fight to the finish in the Democratic runoff race to replace longtime state Rep. Dawnna Dukes.
Jose "Chito" Vela, an immigration attorney and former Austin Planning Commission member is up against former Austin City Council member and mayor pro tem, Sheryl Cole.
Dukes was defeated in the recent primary election.
The district is one of the most diverse and Democratic in the state. It covers much of East Austin, Manor and into Pflugerville.
