SAN MARCOS — Two women accused of aggravated robberies in San Marcos last month, and nearby cities in April and May, have been arrested in Bastrop.

Jennifer Elizabeth Grabs, 29, and Rosalinda Rodriguez, 34, were arrested May 9 by Bastrop police executing warrants obtained by the San Marcos Police Department. They are accused of two aggravated robberies at a San Marcos hotel.

The first incident occurred Thursday, April 12 at about 1:35 a.m. Police said Grabs entered the Days Inn lobby at 1005 N IH-35 and inquired about room rates with the clerk. She eventually exited the lobby and left in a four-door sedan. Grabs returned a short time later to inquire about room rates for a second time. According to police, while the clerk was speaking with Grabs, Rodriguez entered the lobby brandishing a firearm, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the clerk give her money. Both then left the hotel in an unknown direction.

The second incident occurred at the same hotel Wednesday, April 25, at about 2:12 a.m.

This time, police said, Rodriguez entered the lobby and inquired about room rates with the clerk. While the clerk was speaking with her, Grabs entered the lobby brandishing a firearm and demanded the clerk give her the money from the register. The women fled in a vehicle very similar to the one used in the first robbery.

San Marcos PD learned of similar incidents committed in nearby cities and detectives were able to link all of the incidents. SMPD detectives sent photographs of the subjects to other agencies across the region. Bastrop officers recognized the subjects and provided SMPD detectives with the likely identities of each. Detectives from SMPD, Round Rock PD, Georgetown PD and Bastrop PD were able to work together to positively identify the two suspects.

On Wednesday, May 9, SMPD obtained two arrest warrants each for Grabs and Rodriguez for aggravated robbery for the two San Marcos incidents.  The same day, SMPD detectives worked with detectives from Bastrop to locate and arrest Grabs and Rodriguez in Bastrop.

Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Hays County Jail, and SMPD Detectives executed a court-ordered search warrant on a residence in Bastrop where Grabs and Rodriguez have been living.

Total bond amounts of $200,000 have been set for each subject, $100,000 for each count of aggravated robbery.

Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony, and if convicted, Grabs and Rodriguez could face up to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Warrants from other agencies for both subjects are pending.
