AUSTIN, Texas -- The one and only Democratic gubernatorial runoff debate will now be televised on Spectrum News.

Karina Kling will be joined by Democratic analyst Harold Cook and Republican analyst Ted Delisi for a preview and live airing of the debate between Lupe Valdez and Andrew White. Valdez and White will field questions from Dallas Morning News political reporter Gromer Jeffers.  

Friday’s debate will take place at St. James Episcopal Church, located at 1941 Webberwille Rd. in Austin.

Tickets to attend the debate in person have sold out but you can watch it live on-air on Spectrum News.

The debate comes just before the two candidates face off in the May 22 runoff. Early voting begins Monday.  

The winner of the runoff will face Republican incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott in November.

The debate is being hosted by several groups including the State Tejano Democrats, Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, Texas College Democrats, Texas Young Democrats, Texas Stonewall Democrats and the Travis County Democratic Party.

Spectrum News will have special coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
