NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — New Braunfels police, with the help of eyewitnesses and security footage, were able to track down a driver suspected of fleeing the scene after striking a motorcyclist.

On April 24, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the 1200 block of North Business 35 for reports of a vehicle vs. motorcycle accident.

Once on scene, police said they discovered a vehicle that struck the motorcycle had fled the scene.

Paramedics immediately began treating the motorcyclist, a 61-year old New Braunfels man who had suffered serious, potentially life-threatening, injuries in the crash.

Officers with the NBPD Traffic Unit continued to investigate the incident. Eyewitness accounts and video surveillance images from nearby businesses helped narrow the type of vehicle down to a silver Lexus hatchback, which eventually led to the discovery of the vehicle at a New Braunfels-area auto repair shop.

Police were able to determine that a 77-year old New Braunfels female was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The results of the NBPD investigation will now be passed on to the Comal County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. The victim in this incident has since been released from the hospital.

The name of the driver has not been released.
