AUSTIN, Texas — Willie Nelson has countless friends across music, Television and film.

His close friendship with the late Merle Haggard was a special one that spanned many years and songs.

One of their last gigs together is documented in a TV special taped in Austin by Nelson's nephew and founder of Arlyn Studios, Freddy Fletcher.

Fletcher said Nelson and Haggard’s final television performance was one of the greatest experiences of his career.

"You know it's timeless and since Merle passed it really makes it that much more special of a show because we know it's not going to happen again," he said.

Fletcher's mother Bobbie is Nelson's only sister and the musical bond they shared has influenced Fletcher for as long as he can remember.

"There was always music in the house and my mom was a piano teacher and played music and Willie would come in and he was kind of the crazy one,” he said. "When I was in the first grade he brings Roger Miller over to our house, neither one of them were really that popular at the time but I knew something was going on.”

Fletcher built Aryln Studios in 1984 and produce multi-platinum albums for artists like Los Lonely Boys, Sublime and many others.

"You know I guess the biggest selling record that we've done out of here was Sublime and I think it's sold over 20 million copies," he said.

Willie and  Merle are the ones he calls legends who had friendship that outshined their many platinum records.

"To have those legends in here and to be able to produce a show them is like a dream come true it really is it's one of my proudest moments," he said.
