Women in Texas prisons are not getting the same educational and job training opportunities as incarcerated men. That's according to a new report from the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition.
The study found men can get a master's degree and even walk out of a Texas prison a certified welder, a carpenter or a computer technologist. They get to choose from a list of 21 professions.
For women -- they only have access to two career options according to the report.
The analysis is the second of a two-part study that looks into the growing number of incarcerated women.
Lindsey Linder, a policy attorney with the criminal justice group behind the study, joined Capital Tonight Thursday to discuss the report.
