AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin firefighter has been suspended for 60 days after being arrested for driving while intoxicated.

According to documents from AFD, on Nov. 14, 2017 Matt Harvey was stopped for speeding and failed field sobriety tests. He refused to supply a blood sample and a search warrant was obtained.

Although he was not on duty, AFD said the arrest violated its code of conduct. In addition, he will be placed on probation, and is subject to random alcohol testing for one year starting the day he comes back from suspension. He is also required to be evaluated by a qualified professional to determine if he has an alcohol-related problem and if professional counseling or rehabilitation is needed.
