DALLAS — A person of interest was arrested following a shooting at a Home Depot that critically wounded two police officers.
A civilian that worked at the store was also shot.
Dallas Air One, the police department's helicopter, tweeted that the person related to the shooting was in custody. The arrest came about five hours after the shooting, involving a car chase through parts of downtown.
The Dallas Police Department on Tuesday afternoon reported that two of its officers and a civilian were shot at a Home Depot in North Dallas.
Officers were called to the scene at 4:12 p.m.
In a press conference, just before 8 p.m., Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall confirmed that the wounded civilian is a loss prevention officer. The employee worked at Home Depot and made the original call for assistance. The two others wounded were the responding officers. Both officers are in critical condition and the condition of the civilan is unknown at this time.
Chief Hall also identified a person of interest as 29-year-old Armando Juarez who is of Latin descent.
State, local and federal authorities are assisting in the investigation.
