AUSTIN — The saying goes "home is where the heart is," and what better way to show Austin's heart than through some of its weirdest homes?

Randy and Sandy Robertson own the "OMG House." While it looks like an ordinary house from the outside, there are some quirky finds inside.

"This is a huge labor of love," Robertson said.

Visitors will see a little bit of the Robertsons in every room including Sandy's love for Marilyn Monroe, her two-story "Coop de Ville" for her chickens and Randy's collection from his travels.

"This is a piece of the Berlin Wall," he said. "I happened to be in Berlin when they tore it down."

Robertson proudly displays a 165-year-old grandfather clock that still tells time.

"This is probably my favorite piece, " Robertson said. "It was purchased in 1853 by my great-great-grandma."

He said the name for his home was a no-brainer.

"OMG House because when people come in, they're always like, 'Oh my God, what's going on?'" Robertson said. "Sandy and I surround ourselves with things that make us happy and that's the most important thing in life to me, I think, is that you got to be happy with your surroundings."

It's the type of happiness organizers of the Austin Weird Homes tour wants to spread to the community.

"I knew that this was a very special home," Kevin Shaw from the Austin Weird Homes Tour said. "We think that weird is the unique thing that defines us. We like to show off the unique homes."

Shaw added the homeowners also play a part in the selection.

"It's not only the homes that are interesting but the homeowners that are really fascinating," he said.

"I used to be afraid that people would think that I was really strange because I don't do things that most people do," Robertson said. "But everyone seems to like what they see. That brings me joy so I hope people like what they see."

The OMG House is one of ten homes that are featured in the Austin Weird Homes Tour Saturday, April 21 starting at 10 a.m.

Aside from showing off some of the city's most unique homes, the tour benefits local charities that build affordable housing. This year's beneficiary is Austin HousingWorks.
