HOUSTON — Janelle Alexis Salon is not far from the Tanglewood subdivision where Barbara Bush lived. The former first lady has been going to thar hair salon more than two decades.

Stylists sad she loved her hair only one way: "up and away"  and "nothing too special."

Whenever Bush stopped by, employees said she would have the whole room laughing. They said she was like their grandmother.

Jessica Parris had been her 92-year-old stylist since 2007. Parris said she cried when she found out about Bush's death. Over the course of more than 10 years, she said they talked about everything, including family.

“My daughter sings and so I had taped her and I had her listen to it. She’s like 'Oh my God, I’ve got chill.' She says, 'where is she going to go college,?' we said, 'we don’t know yet.' She says, 'Well what’s wrong with Julliard?' I say of course you’re going to go all the way there,' Parris said. "That was her. Always go straight.”

There will be a public visitation held at St. Martin's Church, which is about a mile away from the salon.
