AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police have identified two people arrested after a crash that killed a man in downtown Austin early Monday morning.

Dean Michael Hood, 27, died at the scene of the crash near the I-35 and Cesar Chavez Street intersection.

According to a police report, a red Volvo was traveling south on I-35 in the center lane approaching Cesar Chavez. Following the Volvo was a black Hyundai Elantra driven by 27-year-old Kelsi Weatherby that Hood was a passenger in, and behind her was a red Chrysler 200 driven by 22-year-old Devin Nethery.

Nethery struck Weatherby's vehicle from behind, which caused damage to all three vehicles and resulted in the death of Hood, police said.

Nethery has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Weatherby was arrested for DWI.

Police have not yet released the mugshot of Nethery.
