AUSTIN, Texas -- The Austin Police Department is investigating two bank robberies that occurred on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Prosperity Bank located at 1610 W. North Loop Blvd. in Central Austin was robbed shortly before 1 p.m. The suspect, 58-year-old Edward Averill, presented a note and demanded cash. Averill has been taken into police custody. There were no reported injuries during the robbery.

The second bank robbery occurred at the BB&T Bank located in the 6900 block of Airport Blvd. in North Austin. Authorities said the suspect entered the bank, displayed a weapon and demanded money. The robber left a scene on foot and authorities are still searching for him.

He is described as a black male with an average build, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with blue jeans, black shoes, and a white knitted mask.
