AUSTIN, Texas — A cold front, reports of hail and a tornado have passed through Central and South Texas in the last 24 hours.

According to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, a tornado touched down in the far northeast part of the county at 7:56 p.m. April 6 near North Rocky Creek. The tornado was on the ground for approximately five minutes. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

A few strong to severe storms, brief heavy rain and gusty winds passed through Central Texas. Quarter to half dollar-sized hail was reported in Williamson, Bell and Burnet Counties.

The cold front pushed today’s highs into the 50s and 40, but with wind chills it will feel more like the 30s and 40s.

Just after midnight, Austin Travis County EMS responded to a boat off of Mansfield Dam Road. When they arrived at the scene they found a capsized boat and three people in the water. EMS rescued the three and returned them to shore. No injuries were reported.

WHAT TO EXPECT

On Sunday, the day will start off cold, but Sunday highs are expected to return to the 70s.
