AUSTIN, Texas — Hundreds are competing in a one of a kind tournament, but only a handful will make it to the next round.

The Texas Cornhole League held its signature series in Pflugerville on Friday, April 6. Cornhole is a backyard and tailgating past time and has its own statewide league with professional players.

Competitors said it isn’t just a sport of hand-eye coordination. Organizers with the league said the game has evolved over time, and now it’s more competitive than ever before.

“The game has changed recently where people are using different styles of bags,” Chad Jacobson with the Texas Cornhole League said. “We have several different styles of bags with different fabrics that’ll slide more, some will stick more.”

This year’s final tournament is June 22 in Waco.
