LAREDO, Texas — President Donald Trump signed an order to deploy National Guard Troops to the southwest border.

President George W. Bush sent troops to patrol the border in 2006. President Barack Obama in 2010.

In 2014 Texas Governor Rick Perry sent 1000 Texas Guard Troops.

Border apprehensions were down in 2017, compared to the three previous years.

Last month, 37,000 people were caught trying to enter the U.S. illegally, a 37 percent spike compared to February.

Earlier this week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told reporters the deployment order was coming.

“This includes ongoing counternarcotic missions, infrastructure construction, persistent surveillance operations, training and aerial support throughout the Western Hemisphere,” She said.
