FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas – A man is in jail after a Fayette County deputy discovered a total of 114 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

On March 31 around 6:29 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop for a violation along Interstate 10 near Flatonia.

As soon as the deputy began questioning the driver, he immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.

The deputy then noticed large bundles of marijuana in the passenger compartment.

The driver, 33-year-old Michael Shuford, was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. Shuford has been charged with felony possession of marijuana.
