STATEWIDE — The results are in! And neither Austin or San Antonio were ranked No. 1 for best Tex-Mex in Texas, but an Austin spot was awarded second place, and the Alamo City did make it in the top 10.

9. Mi Tierra Café y Panaderia — San Antonio

AUSTIN, Texas — Everyone has a favorite Tex-Mex joint, but now a handful of local favorites are vying for a chance to be called the best.

USA Today is currently taking votes for the “10 Best Tex-Mex Restaurants In Texas.” They narrowed the leaderboard down to 20 and are asking the public to vote for their favorite restaurants.

Currently one of Austin's favorites, Matt’s El Rancho, is sitting at the No. 2 spot while El Paso favorite, L&J Cafe, tops the leaderboard.

There are also several other Austin and San Antonio spots trying to make in the top 10.

Austin Tex-Mex restaurants on the list:

  • Veracruz All Natural
  • Torchy’s Tacos

San Antonio Tex-Mex restaurants on the list:

  • Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia
  • Garcia’s Mexican Food
