The preliminary investigation shows that Franco was walking in a crosswalk from north to south in the 800 block of E. Slaughter Lane. He had the right-of-way at the time when a white 2005 Ford Explorer, traveling westbound, approached the intersection of Brandt Road.

The driver of the Explorer entered the intersection against a red light and struck the victim. Police say the driver remained on scene.

Franco was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, eventually passing on March 7 at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

Daniel's family has organized a GoFundMe for expenses.
