AUSTIN, Texas — A woman is getting viral attention for “trolling" Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at an airport.
The woman, named Rebecca, who resides in Austin her Twitter bio says, was wearing a sign around her neck that said "Texas deserves better than Cruz" was photographed with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
She posted the photo to Twitter with the caption: "Got to meet someone who supposedly represents me today. Not for much longer, though! #BetoForTexas @SenTedCruz @BetoORourke," tagging Rep. Beto O'Rouke, D-Texas, who is challenging the incumbent for his Senate seat.
In the comments, Rebecca told commenters that the sign was "buttoned over" before she took the photo and that the photo was taken after a flight from Washington D.C. to Dallas.
The photo had received more than 114,000 likes and 25,000 retweets as of Monday afternoon.
In a tweet posted Monday, the woman said she had tried to reach out to Cruz and others "through traditional channels."
"I'm tired of voicemails. Many Texans feel like we're screaming into a void," she tweeted. "We feel powerless, and we feel ignored. When I saw Cruz onboard, I thought 'This is my ONE opportunity to MAKE SOMEONE LISTEN.”
And that she did, thanks to the internet.
