SAN ANTONIO – Three years after a deadly crash that killed two people, the driver is now charged with two counts of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault.

Christopher Paul Marchini, 21, admitted to investigators that he had consumed marijuana and Xanax before a crash on April 27, 2015.

According to the affidavit, arriving police located Marchini’s car, which had been broken into two pieces between the main lanes and access road of U.S. Highway 281. Marchini was found in the driver’s seat unable to get out of the severely damaged vehicle.

One of the passengers of Marchini’s car was discovered lying on the ground near the car dead. A second passenger was pronounced dead in the back seat of the car, which had been separated from the front of the car during the crash.

Once Marchini was removed from the vehicle he told police he had not consumed alcohol prior to the crash, but did smoke marijuana and had taken Xanax.

The driver of the second car involved in the crash said he saw Marchini speeding before going airborne and colliding with his car. The second car’s driver escaped with only a broken arm. However, his passenger had severe injuries and police said he is most likely going to be paralyzed.

Marchini is currently still in custody at the Bexar County Jail without the possibility for a bond.
