AUSTIN, Texas -- Fadó Irish Pub is closing its doors March 21 and people are said their goodbyes at the St. Patrick's Day Block Party.

Their final St. Patrick’s Day block party brought out hundreds of fans.

"I’m heartbroken. This is like a Austin cornerstone and it’s not going to be the same without them down here,” said Fadó faithful Mindy Cortez.

For more than 20 years Fadó has made its name as one of the few Irish pubs in Austin, something their fans had come to appreciate.

"It’s that awesome pub atmosphere that you don’t find a lot here. I used to live in New York and there is a pub on every other corner, here it’s not too many,” Samantha Breeland said.

Even original employees came out to support the pub during its final parry. They said no other pub can replace this Austin original.

"It’s absolutely heartbreaking," Kelley Martin said. "This is my home. I’m called Mama Fado because I was the oldest one that worked here at the time"

It’s the end of an era at Fadó, and the grateful patrons want the owners to know this old watering hole will be missed.

"This is my heart, it’s leaving me," Grant Rodell said.

Owners of Fado said they plan to reopen at a new location soon.
