SAN ANTONIO - Saint Patrick’s day weekend is here, folks!

All across Texas people will be doing things all weekend long. The San Antonio River Walk is transformed into the River Shannon and will be that emerald green we've all come to know and love.

All weekend there will be the annual parade, concerts, and the festival. Fado’s in Austin has their party and festival for the last year.

In both cities you can see a tourism boost and a lot more locals than usual coming to downtown -- it's taken decades to get to those numbers.

In San Antonio, been going on here since the late 1960s.

"It's been growing ever since last year. We had - over the 16th and 17th, the two days of our festival and parade - we had over 70,000 people," said Paula Schechter with the Paseo del Rio Association.

This weekend is big moneymaker and places have come to depend on it every year.

"It is our busiest day of the year by far. We set really high goals for ourselves sales-wise. We sell a lot of alcoholic beverages and food that day. It's just non-stop the entire day," said Jamie Maldonado with Maddogs British Pub.
