NATIONWIDE -- It's time to crack open a cold one because April 7 marks National Beer Day.

If your adult beverage of choice is a craft beer, take note: the price is going up because of climate change.

Yes, that's right, climate change.

In Texas, a single person might have to shell out a couple hundred extra bucks for beer each year according to the Brewers Association Economic Impact Study of 2017.

With global temperatures on the rise, barley, hops and water -- the key ingredients of beer -- have been impacted in some very negative ways.

Last year, Montana farmers planted 23 percent less barley for the beer market than in 2016, impacting the final cost of beer at the pub or market says Climate Central.

It's worth mentioning that, in 2016, the Texas craft brewing industry brought a substantial $4.5 billion worth of impact to the state economy.
