AUSTIN, Texas – The woman convicted of being an accomplice to the murder of a University of Texas student will be released from prison on Thursday.

Laura Hall, 35, is getting out five months before her 10-year prison sentence is complete.

On Aug. 19, 2005, 21-year-old Jennifer Cave was found dead in the bathtub of Colton Pitonyak's apartment in West Campus.

Investigators concluded Hall helped dismember and mutilate Cave's body. Pitonyak was found guilty of murder.

Hall was sentenced for tampering with evidence. She appealed the sentence claiming shoddy work was done by the Austin Police Department’s Forensics Lab.

Pitonyak is currently serving a 55-year sentence for the murder.
