SAN ANTONIO – A 14-year-old boy is dead after a shooting on the East Side early Wednesday morning.

The shooting was reported around 6 a.m. at Denver Boulevard and South Mesquite. A 43-year-old father was found at the home with his two kids; one of them with a fatal gunshot wound.

Police said shell casings were found inside and outside the house. At least three weapons were found inside the home including an AR15, handgun and a shotgun.

The father, taken into custody as a possible suspect, was let go by police after questioning.

“There does appear to have been several different types of weapons used,” said Sgt. Michelle Ramos. "Evidence that suggests, that some of the shooting occured inside the location, outside the location, but like I said, we're still trying to contact witnesses to see if anybody saw anything, anybody flee the scene or anything of that sort."

The 14-year-old was pronounced dead at University Hospital. The father's other child, a 12-year-old girl, is currently at police headquarters.

At this time investigators said it is unclear where the shots came from.

The area is blocked off while the crime scene is still active.

"The boy was not killed as a result of an exchange of gunfire. from what we see right now. It all occured inside the house with a variety of weapons that were found around the house," said Chief William McManus.

A Spectrum News crew is at the scene working to get more information.
