AUSTIN, Texas — In preparation for the thousands of people scheduled to visit Austin for SXSW, Capital Metro plans to increase services and extend hours during the festival.

The MetroRapid bus will operate until 2:30 a.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Service will be extended to 12:30 a.m. on Sundays, and will also operate on a regular schedule until 12:30 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays. A single ride on MetroRapid costs $1.25.

MetroRail services will be extended daily. On Saturdays, service runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., and on Sundays the first train leaves at 10:30 a.m. with service extended until midnight. A single ride on MetroRail costs $3.50. Ticket vending machines at MetroRail stations do not accept credit or debit cards. Payment by cash, stored value cards or an electronic change card previously issued by a TVM is required at a ticket vending machine. Riders can use debit and credit cards to purchase passes on the CapMetro App. Overflow busses will also be available for riders if there is no more room on the train.

Night Owl buses will operate from midnight to 3 a.m., with more buses in service. A single ride on the Night Owl costs $1.25.

MetroAirport Route 100 offers service to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) and downtown every 30 minutes for $1.25. On Sunday, March 18, MetroAirport will run every 15 minutes throughout the day.

During the festival, routes 4, 17, 21, 22, 100, 122 and 484 will be detoured downtown. Detailed detour information can be found at the Capital Metro website, by accessing the QR codes at bus stops or by calling the GO Line at 512-474-1200.
