AUSTIN, Texas – A new show tracing the rising threat of Al-Qaeda is set to premiere on the streaming service Hulu.
"The Looming Tower" is based on the book written by Austinite Larry Wright, who also serves as the show's executive producer.
The show chronicles the dysfunction at the federal level between leaders at the Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation before the events of Sept. 11.
"What really sets this cast apart I think is the extremely high level of intelligence among all the cast members. That was exciting," said Wright.
Wright, along with some cast members, screened the very first episode at the LBJ Library at the University of Texas at Austin. He admits he was worried about taking his book to the screen, but credits the cast for changing his mind.
"I've been learning a lot and I think everybody who watches this will learn something that they didn't most likely know. Whether it has something to do with what was going on between the CIA and the FBI or who the individuals were fighting this fight before all of this happened," said actor Michael Stuhlbarg.
Wright’s book was awarded a Pulitzer Prize and landed on the New York Time 10 Best Books of the Year.
The ten episode limited-series was taped across eight countries in three continents. The show premiers on Feb. 28, only on Hulu.
