AUSTIN, Texas – Austinites are waking up to heavy rainfall in the city and surrounding areas Friday morning.

With a 70 percent chance of rain for the day, the rain doesn’t seem like it plans on letting up any time soon.

Another round of morning storms are moving in from the Southwest bringing some of the heaviest rain of the day. Heavy storms are expected to continue until 10 a.m. as chances of rain hold out until 7 p.m. 

Make sure you bring an umbrella and a jacket with temperatures in the 40’s with a high of 68 degrees.

Lighting was reported in San Marcos with brief downpours.
