AUSTIN, Texas — The 17-year-old boy who threatened multiple South Austin high school students, has been charged with terroristic threat, a third-degree felony.

According to the affidavit, Ariel Alexander Ramirez-Navarro, on Thursday, Feb. 22, was on school grounds and made a comment to a student that he was going “to shoot up and blow up” the school and displayed ammunition in his backpack.

That student reported the incident to the school.

The suspect was later found at the South Park Meadows Shopping Complex. He was no longer enrolled at the school due to lack of attendance.

The high school was on lockdown for several hours as authorities searched for the Ramirez-Navarro.

After the initial call of the lockdown's removal by Austin ISD officials, police circled back and said that the lockdown at Akins High School would not be lifted until the police had adequately searched the premises.

Parents were able to pick up their children before the end of the school day.
