HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Officials with the Harris County Public Health Department confirmed the first flu-related death of a child for the 2017-2018 season.

According to the CDC, 84 children across the country have died due to flu-related illnesses during the current flu season.

The CDC states the most common flu symptoms include:

• Fever
• Feeling feverish/chills
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Muscle or body aches
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults
