WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — The cave found under Cambria Drive in Williamson County is no longer open to consultants due to the ground shifting at the entrance of the cave.

Sections of the asphalt show visible downward movement. County engineer Terron Evertson will work with structural engineers to find a way to secure the cave’s opening.

“Public safety continues to be our main concern,” Evertson said. “We are moving our barricades back a few feet in an abundance of caution. We appreciate the public’s patience while the road is closed, and their continued support in respecting the barricades and not trying to get closer to the cave entrance.”

The road will remain closed for several weeks during the remediation effort.
