SAN ANTONIO – A man detained for panhandling has died while he was in San Antonio police custody.

Around 4 p.m. on Monday, the 62-year-old man, identified as Jorg C. Tabor, 62-years-old, was placed in handcuffs without incident and put in the back of a patrol car.

Moments later, police noticed the man slumped over and had stopped answering questions. EMS was immediately called to the scene and began CPR.

The man was transported to NE Baptist where he was pronounced dead.

Due to the man being in police custody at the time of his death, the investigation is being conducted by detectives with SAPD Homicide.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner is conducting the autopsy to determine the man’s cause of death.
