AUSTIN, Texas – Motorcycle riders will gather to ride and raise money in support of an Austin police officer battling cancer.

Austin Police Department Motor Officer Frank Gobourne was diagnosed with stage three cancer in his bile duct. He has been hospitalized for more than four months as his medical bills continue to rise.

To help Gobourne’s family pay for his treatment, a benefit ride will take place on Feb. 17 at the Round Rock Central Texas Harley Davidson.

Each rider must donate $25 and $5 for passengers. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the bike ride starts at 11 a.m.

You can also donate to Gobourne’s GoFundMe here. So far $14,000 has been raised of the $20,000 goal.

Other Texas agencies have been sharing their support for Gobourne on Facebook.

“Different agencies but ONE Family. SAPD would like to send well wishes to Austin PD Motor Officer Frank “Ponch” Gobourne as he fights cancer,” posted the San Antonio Police Department on Facebook.
