SAN ANTONIO -- SeaWorld San Antonio will soon welcome a new member to its family.

Tyonek, the Cook Inlet beluga whale was less than a month old when he was rescued in Alaska.

The National Marine Fisheries Service said the Texas location is the best fit for the whale. He can’t be released in the wild because of his nutritional and social dependence.

Tyonek will have a long journey from his current home at the Alaska SeaLife Center. A date for his arrival has not yet been set.
