AUSTIN, Texas — The family of Andrew Jones, the University of Texas basketbal player diagnosed with leukemia, released an update on his condition.

The statement says: Andrew was moved to Houston on Jan. 19 and has been receiving treatment at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is receiving the best possible care and taking the next steps in his recovery.

We do want everyone to know that in the last two weeks, Andrew has made some positive strides. He’s even been able to get out of bed and move around some which is a huge difference from when he was diagnosed in Austin.

We are very appreciative of the outpouring love and support for Andrew and our family, and we do ask that you continue to keep Andrew in your daily thoughts and prayers. We know there’s a long batter ahead, but together we will win this fight.

Jones was diagnosed with leukemia in January. A fund has been set up in support of Jones and his family.
