GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Georgetown Public Library is hosting several events in February in honor of Black History Month.

Events kick off on Feb. 4 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a reception and presentation by Allen Mack about the Buffalo Soldiers. There is also a presentation Feb. 11 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. by retired U.S. Navy veteran Glenn Towery about Africans Americans in war. Both presentations are free and open to the public.

A Black History Month Banquet will be held Feb. 24 and will include a special recognition of the licensed vocational nursing program at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital with the theme “The Golden Gateway to Nursing.” The keynote speaker is Dr. Devry Anderson, a doctor and colonel at Fort Hood. The banquet starts 5:30 p.m. at the library with a suggested donation is $25 per person.
