NATIONWIDE — Apple is planning to open a second campus as part of a $350 billion plan to invest in the U.S. economy.

The tech giant says it will hire 20,000 workers over the next five years.

The pledge a result of President Trump's tax reform. Apple is not the only tech company planning to build another campus. Amazon has been fielding proposals from cities in its own race for a so-called HQ2.

The location of Apple's new facility will be revealed later this year.

In Austin, Apple’s complex at West Parmer Lane and Delcour Drive is home to the company’s 1.1 million-square-foot Americas Operations Center.

According to 512Tech, Apple employment in Austin has tripled in the last 10 years, making it Apple’s second-largest U.S. hub outside of Cupertino.

The report says Apple said its Austin workforce totaled about 6,500 people.
