AUSTIN, Texas -- It might be too cold out to think about visiting the pool, but it's not too soon to think about working there.

The Parks and Recreation Department has started the hiring process for many summer positions, including lifeguards, swim coaches, instructors, cashiers and pool attendants. Officials say signing up now not only gives employees an early start to training but other perks, as well.

"Also, coming in early, you get your choice of districts.  So you have a particular area of town you want to work in, get in early, get your training done, sign up for your district, and have a better chance of working really close to home all summer,” said Wayne Simmons, of Austin Parks and Recreation.

If you missed Sunday's sign-up event you can still get an early application in. For more information on how to apply visit LifeguardAustin.com
