LATROBE, Pennsylvania — A 21-year-old man in Pennsylvania died from from complications from the flu, according to People Magazine.

Kyler David Baughman, 21, of Latrobe, died unexpectedly on Dec. 28, 2017. His mother told the magazine he looked run-down during the holidays.

Baughman went to a local emergency room on Dec. 27, and was later flown to another hospital in Pittsburgh. Less than 24 hours later, he died from septic shock.

In an interview with WXPI, Baughman’s parents weren’t sure if their son received a flu shot. The CDC reports the vaccine's effectiveness varies each year.
