AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Longhorns Men’s Basketball earned an emotional double overtime win over #16 TCU, as Jericho Sims made a free throw with five seconds left followed by an improbable missed layup off the rim by TCU’s Jaylen Fisher at the final buzzer.

Texas got its biggest win of the season hours after the school announced that sophomore guard Andrew Jones has been diagnosed with leukemia and has started treatment.

In his post-game press conference, head coach Shaka Smart acknowledged Jones’s emotional presence, saying, “I just, all game long, was thinking about him (Jones), and what he would say to the guys, to our team. And I’m really proud of the way that our guys followed an approach and a mindset of playing for each other.”

The win marked the first time in the previous 12 tries that UT beat an AP Top 25 ranked team, since Feb. 29, 2016, when they beat No. 2 Oklahoma.

Texas continues its schedule with a game against Oklahoma State on Saturday.
