SAN MARCOS, Texas - The City of San Marcos is looking for residents who want to be more involved in their community.

Volunteers are needed to fill city commission and committee positions. The commissions range from working on an economic development board to the housing authority or working with animals.

City Clerk Jamie Lee Case said applying to serve on a board is great way to get connected to the community.

"We have people who may have just moved to San Marcos or even college students who may want to use this as an outlet to get tied in and really set some roots in San Marcos. This is a great way for them to engage and get to know their community better," said Case.

All committee vacancies can be found on the City of San Marcos website along with the forms to apply for a position. Applications are due by Jan. 31.
