AUSTIN, Texas – A water main break has been repaired after closing 5th Street between Brazos and San Jacinto Tuesday night.
Austin Water crews arrived on scene with tractors to work on fixing the problem. The street is now open.
Tape blocked off parts of the sidewalk that appeared to have been pushed up about 3 inches by the water main rupture. Silt could be seen on the sidewalk and curb, indicating the water gushed out from underneath that section of sidewalk on the southern side of 5th Street near Brazos Lofts.
Eastbound drivers were encouraged to use 7th Street or Cesar Chavez to access I-35 and similar destinations.
