SCHERTZ, Texas - A Schertz woman is rallying the community together to raise money for the family of Kameron Prescott, 6, who was shot and killed on Dec. 21.

Barbecue plates will be sold for $8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday at the Pickrell Park Pavilion in Schertz. Cash is preferred.

Longtime residents Jennifer Jones and Kevin Anderson say they have been in touch with the family. A family spokesperson said the Kameron’s mother is very grateful for the community’s efforts in organizing the event.

Organizers hope to sell 500 plates and raise $4,000. Funds raised will go towards the Prescott family.
