ROUND ROCK, Texas — Hundreds of fencers from around the world said "En Garde" in Round Rock over the weekend.

They were in town for a tournament.

Foil fighters of all ages competed to earn points towards next year's national championship.

The head coach of the Austin Fencers Club's says many athletes like being out there on their own.

"The kids who are involved in fencing really like the fact that they're relying on themselves.  They don't have the pressure from teammates, basically, because you're by yourself when you fence on the strip," said Austin Fencers Club’s Erin Mallet.

The Round Rock tournament wraps up Monday.

Fighters who earn enough points will head to the championship in St. Louis in June.
