AUSTIN, Texas -- While the 2017 Geminid meteor shower turned out quite nice for some, the view was less than perfect in our region thanks to a sluggish deck of high clouds that very slowly broke up through the night across the southern half of Texas.

And that wasn't the only part of the forecast that didn't completely pan out.  

Astronomers predicted anywhere between 100 and 160 meteors per hour yet observers counted up only 83 per hour at the peak according to latest data from the International Meteor Organization.

You need not worry:  anyone who didn't yet make a wish upon a shooting star can do so right now thanks to a plethora of Geminid photos from around the globe.
