The Austin Parks and Recreation Department released a list of eight locations that it is considering as potential Major League Soccer stadium sites.

The locations are

  • St. John's Home Depot/Chrysler, 7211 N IH 35
  • McKalla Property, 10414 McKalla Place
  • Toomey Ballfields, 1501 Toomey Rd.
  • Travis County Exposition Center, 7311 Decker Ln.
  • Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park, 400 Grove Blvd.
  • Walnut Creek Sports Complex, 7800 Johnny Morris Rd.
  • Bolm Road District Park, 6700 Bolm Rd.
  • Tony Burger Activity Center and Stadium, 3200 Jones Rd.

The list was released in a city memo on Tuesday. Three of the locations are on city of Austin parkland, one on Austin ISD property and two locations are on privately-owned property.

The parks department has not committed to any of these locations for a potential soccer stadium but will look into if any of these places will fit MLS needs, what benefits these locations bring to the surrounding community and economy, and how traffic will be affected – among other considerations.

Department officials will bring their findings to the City Council in February.

The owners of the Columbus Crew Soccer Club said they are considering city-owned park land at Butler Shores as a stadium location earlier this month.
